From the principal’s desk
Dear Students,
Welcome to St. Mary’s Junior College, Basheerbagh!
As you step out of school and embark on a new journey of learning and discovering your strengths, I would like to share with you a small quote that when practiced, can change your life.
“Excellence is a continuous process and not an accident.” – Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
‘Excellence’ is a quality of being the best at something! It is a trait that’s most appreciated, but sadly equally hard to find. Excelling at something does not happen overnight, it results from consistently striving to do better. Rightly said, excellence is not a destination but a never-ending journey. This is what separates an achiever from the average. So, never settle to be average when you know you can do and be the best.
When it comes to academic excellence, we often think it’s all about getting good grades. But let me tell you, it is much more than that. It is the ability to perform, achieve and excel, in all your activities. Beginning from academics, excellence paves way for success in both, your professional and personal life. Observe people who are masters in their chosen field and realize what contributes to their excellence. These lessons will not only inspire you but will give you practical insights towards the fulfillment of your own highest potential.
Compete with yourself every day. Reflect on your achievements/failures of yesterday to do better tomorrow. On your road to excellence, always:
- Nourish the hunger for excellence
- Benchmark yourself against the best
- Build a concrete strategic plan
- Believe that you can achieve the impossible
- Work really, really hard
- Stay focussed and on-course
Don’t chase success alone. Pursue excellence in all that you do and success will invariably follow. Whatever be your discipline, strive to be the best at it and know that in this journey, we stand by you at every step.
